Vote on Election Day - Polling Places

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Don’t allow DOT intimidation

Apex, North Carolina –July 22, 2009 – Highway 64 ‘Super Street’ Plan a foolish idea being forced on an unwilling town by the NC Department of Transportation according to Scott Lassiter, Candidate for Apex Town Council and life-long resident of the town.

Scott Lassiter has been traveling NC Highway 64 all of his life. His home sits just hundreds of yards away from the intersection of Laura Duncan and the highway.

"NC DOT has decided that the best thing for Apex and surrounding areas is to spend hundreds of millions of tax-payer dollars to convert Highway 64 into some kind of futuristic elevated expressway. This just seems silly to me. Apex residents need to be involved in the redesigning of a major town thoroughfare. DOT is forcing this plan on us. I’m ready to fight it." says Lassiter, "It’s an issue of frivolous spending that will inconvenience anyone who travels 64 and pose a major safety issue to pedestrians near Apex High School."

Lassiter also feels that the timely completion of the Western Wake Expressway (I-540) is of greater importance.

"In private life people have to make choices pertaining to their purchases. In a time when money is tight, the state needs to make choices about which highway projects they pursue vigorously. This 64 project is not nearly as important to the people of western Wake County as I-540 is."
